About Us
A South Carolina Courier Built for Healthcare
Meridian Atlas Medical Couriers was founded in Columbia, South Carolina by logistics veterans and former hospital operations managers who understood one truth: in healthcare, late is not an option. We built the company to be the courier we wished we had when we ran hospital labs and pharmacy networks ourselves — uncompromising on compliance, obsessive about chain-of-custody, and accountable to the minute.
Today we serve hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, independent physician practices, dialysis centers, surgical suites, blood banks, specialty pharmacies, clinical trial sponsors, and long-term care facilities across the state. Every shipment we touch is governed by documented HIPAA protocols, sealed chain-of-custody paperwork, and a courier trained specifically on the material in their hands.
We are fully HIPAA trained and certified. Every driver completes our 40-hour onboarding curriculum covering the HIPAA Privacy Rule, the Security Rule, the Breach Notification Rule, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens (29 CFR 1910.1030), DOT 49 CFR Part 173 for Category B (UN 3373) biological substances, and IATA dangerous goods handling. We re-certify annually and maintain a written sanitization policy, a documented incident response plan, and a Business Associate Agreement ready for execution before our first pickup.
Reliability is structural, not accidental. We operate a right-sized fleet of late-model, GPS-tracked vehicles equipped with calibrated dual-temperature compartments — ambient, refrigerated (2–8°C), and frozen (-20°C) — with continuous temperature logging that is delivered with every signed manifest. Dispatch operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year out of our Columbia operations center, with backup dispatch and power redundancy so we keep moving when others can't.
Punctuality is measured, not promised. We track every leg against a contracted service-level agreement, publish on-time performance to our partners monthly, and route work using live traffic, weather, and incident feeds. Our standing on-time performance across STAT and scheduled work exceeds 99.4%.
